About Hack Club
Founded in 2015 by a teen engineer and high school dropout, Hack Club is a nonprofit 501©(3) that empowers teenagers to become highly-skilled, creative problem solvers through learning computer science skills, along with career-training, financial literacy and entrepreneurship.
Hack Club is now the largest software engineering training program for high schoolers in the US. It supports a network of thousands of high schoolers in coding clubs worldwide and runs ambitious, youth-led technical challenges, as well as “hackathons” which are 1-3 day in person coding events. Hack Club’s motto is “by teens, for teens” and unique approach emphasizes radical trust, transparency, and a spirit of creative rebellion.
Hack Club has a proven track record in philanthropy, with 70% of our support stemming from major gifts from leading tech founders, and a history of engaging visionary donors and aligning their support with impactful youth-driven projects. From launching major initiatives like the largest hackathon for high school young women, to providing free technology challenges for thousands of teenagers globally, Hack Club’s donor partnerships fuel our mission to create opportunities for the next generation of leaders. Hack Club sees opportunity to increase major giving while also growing other buckets. In 2024, 10% of revenue came from philanthropic grants; 10% corporate donors and 10% earned revenue; and .2% from small gifts, mostly teen alum.
