Play a vital role in Hack Club’s nonprofit mission to create a “hacker generation”: these are millions of young people with technical skills, a positive, curious mindset, and a network of like-minded friends from all backgrounds.
Hack Club is a nonprofit education organization, founded by high-school dropout/coder Zach Latta and journalist Christina Asquith, and run by a team of young, highly-creative engineers, overseeing a global network of tens of thousands of teen coders in the US and around the world.
We are looking for a smart, creative, and technical educator to join Hack Club and lead our clubs program to make clubs the best after school program for teenagers interested in coding. Hack Club is engineer-led, and half of our staff is younger than 25. We are well supported by philanthropists, including a number of West Coast-based engineer-founders.
In this role you would:
Make Hack Club an awesome after school coding club for teenagers
Revamp our workshops website for our hundreds clubs across the world
Work with our teen workshop designers around content and flow
Conceptualize and build out tooling for our clubs program
Manage an operations lead and run a small team of Hack Club interns
Strategize and execute on how to keep the clubs program engaged with all parts of Hack Club (like our grant programs and short term highly technical projects like building a gaming console)
Design and deliver virtual and in-person trainings for teenage club leaders
Listen to community members, and support them to execute on their ideas.
You’ll be great for this role if:
You have a background in programming education
You’ve worked in education for +3 years at the high school level
You’re excited about helping thousands of students learn to program each year
You're passionate about building technical projects and find tinkering fun.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and can lead a team of students to push forward new initiative
You've worked with teenagers and are excited to work 1:1 with them every day.
You are technical and work at a fast pace.
You embody the values of a model Hack Clubber: collaborative, kind, high integrity, helpful, and curious.
You have the traits of a wonderful friend: always encouraging, genuinely wanting to see students learn and figure out things on their own, excited to answer questions, and always wanting to help students find their own course of action.
To work at Hack Club, you need to have a background in programming, but you should be inspired by making things fun. We picture our ideal candidate to be post grad and very on top of the new trends.
